As well as being an upcoming basketball star, LSU Tigers guard Flau'jae Johnson also makes rap music. Johnson has released her new track, "Came Out A Beast."
The single is featured on her new album, "Best of Both Worlds," and features rapper Lil Wayne. Flau'jae has promoted her new song on Instagram and has seen a fellow basketball player using it to work out.
That player is the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young. In her Instagram video highlighting Young's use of the song, she captioned it by saying:
"Going crazy right now"
Trae Young had a mixed season in the recent NBA season. He averaged 25.7 points per game with 10.8 assists per game and a completion rate of 43%. This is one of his lowest-performing seasons since the former Oklahoma Sooner came into the NBA in 2018.
The silver lining is that he made the All-Star game, but he struggled in that as well.
His Hawks side made the playoffs as the No. 10 seed, facing the Chicago Bulls in the 9th/10th place playoff for a spot in the main draw. The Hawks lost this game in what would be another less-than-stellar performance from the former rookie of the year.
Trae Young's workouts to Johnson's music would be needed after the seasons he has had. It will not only help promote her music, but it will show fans that Young is beginning to prepare for what will hopefully be a better 2024-25 season for him.
What has Flau'jae Johnson said about her new album?
Speaking to Blavity, Johnson described how her album shows the combination of her basketball career and her music career:
“I am so excited to let y’all into my world, juggling music and basketball hasn’t been the easiest journey for me, but it has definitely been the most rewarding. I love you all.”
Both of these careers do not seem to show any form of slowing down.
On the court, Johnson had a decent sophomore season with the LSU Tigers. She averaged 14.9 points per game and had 2.5 assists a game on average.
However, expect these figures to increase in the upcoming season. This is due to the absence of star player Angel Reese, who has gone to the WNBA. Johnson was seen as the successor to Reese, and we began to see this officially during the recent NCAA tournament.
But now it is real. Flau'jae Johnson will be going into the season as a team leader who has the potential to become one of the best players in women's college basketball.
