While Flau'jae Johnson's stepfather, Ameen Brooks, is one of her biggest cheerleaders of the LSU star on social media, Charlotte Hornets stalwart LaMelo Ball seems to have gotten his attention as well.
On Thursday on Instagram, Ball shared a short video that recapped some of his best moments from 2024. Within minutes of him uploading the post, Brooks reshared the post on his Instagram story, showering praise on the Hornets point guard in just three words.
"Turn me up @melo," Brooks wrote.
LaMelo Ball's recap started with a quote from his postgame interview after leading the Hornets to a 110-105 win in October, which was his first regular season game since Jan. 26, 2024.
"I just be going out there playing basketball," Ball said.
What followed in his recap were some of his most impressive moments during his time with the Hornets, which included several step-back 3-pointers and his signature arm celebration.
Ball also included his clutch moment from the Hornets' game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 11, 2024, where he hit a fadeaway 3-pointer over Jared McCain to tie the game with just eight seconds to go in the final quarter. Despite his 38-point effort, the Hornets fell 105-107 in overtime that night.
LaMelo Ball is arguably enjoying the strongest season of his NBA career. Across 22 games, he has averaged a staggering 30.1 points, while also averaging 5.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.7 minutes.
Flau'jae Johnson's stepfather, Ameen Brooks, was in attendance for the 2024 Texas Bowl
Ameen Brooks and his wife, Flau'jae Johnson's mother Kia Brooks, were in the stands for the Texas Bowl on New Year's Eve, where the Tigers beat the Baylor Bears 44-31 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. In his caption, Brooks hinted he was cheering on LSU wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr., who recently got into a relationship with Flau'jae Johnson.
"LSU BOWL GAME #houston #texas #wifey #DemBrooks #brooksbunch lets go #3 @kiajbrooks," he posted.
While Ameen and Kia Brooks left their young kids at home, they ensured to keep tabs on them, as Ameen Brooks' short clip featured Kia making a video call to speak to them.
The Tigers (9-4) scored their third consecutive bowl victory as Hilton had 113 yards and one touchdown on four catches.
