Flau'jae Johnson's stepdad Ameen Brooks has been active on social media. And with her stepdaughter's big game coming up as the No. 5 LSU Tigers face the No. 2 South Carolina, he had some words to say before the matchup commences Friday at 5 p.m. ET.
The Tigers held their final practice prior to the game on Thursday, the original date of the contest. It was pushed to Friday due to a winter storm that prevented LSU from making it to Columbia, South Carolina, in time.
Brooks provided his reaction to the Tigers finishing their last session before the matchup with the defending national champions, summing it up in four words.
"This what I'm on!!" Brooks said.
How Flau'jae Johnson, LSU enters matchup with South Carolina
Facing the defending champions will be a tough task, but Flau'jae Johnson and the No. 5 Tigers have shown they have the talent capable of beating the best.
This matchup also highlights the battle of coaches, namely LSU's Kim Mulkey and South Carolina's Dawn Staley. This will be their eighth encounter, as Staley leads 5-2 all-time in their head-to-heads.
The Tigers have a perfect record to protect, having won their first 20 games of the season. They are averaging 90.6 points on 48.9% shooting from the field and 33.2% from beyond the arc, dominating opponents by a margin of 28.4 points per game.
Flau'jae Johnson leads LSU with 19.9 points, six rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per contest on 49.2% shooting overall and 37.1% from downtown. Aneesah Morrow comes next with a double-double average of 18.7 points and 14.2 rebounds, while Mikaylah Williams puts up 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. Kailyn Gilbert provides 11.2 points and 3.3 rebounds off the bench.
A win over the Gamecocks would be monumental to boosting LSU's chances of having a higher seed in the NCAA Tournament bracket if they were to secure a spot. Not only that, their chances of competing for a national championship for the second time in three years would grow further by showing they can beat the reigning champions.
After this game, the No. 5 Tigers return home to face the Texas A&M Aggies on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. ET.
