Flau'jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow, and Mikaylah Williams help LSU defeat Vanderbilt
Flau'jae Johnson delivered a standout performance to lead LSU to an 83–77 victory over Vanderbilt in a thrilling Southeastern Conference matchup on Monday. Supported by key contributions from Aneesah Morrow and Mikaylah Williams, the Tigers extended their unbeaten streak to 19 games, remaining a perfect 19-0 for the season (4-0 SEC).
LSU's big three showed out, with Johnson, Morrow and Williams stepping up at pivotal moments. Senior forward Morrow set the tone early, scoring 7 of her 23 points in the first quarter to give the Tigers a solid start. Sophomore Williams then took over in the third quarter, exploding for 11 of her 20 points and keeping LSU within striking distance.
But Johnson stole the spotlight when it mattered most. With LSU trailing by three points early in the fourth quarter, Johnson contributed 11 of her game-high 25 points in the final quarter.
Her crucial baskets, including two key layups in the last two minutes, helped LSU regain control and hold off a determined Vanderbilt squad.
Vanderbilt made a strong push in the fourth quarter, briefly taking a three-point lead with 8:54 remaining. However, Johnson answered with seven of the next 11 points, swinging the momentum back to LSU.
Though the Tigers never led by more than four points in the closing minutes, Johnson’s composure and scoring ability created just enough cushion to secure the win.
With these kinds of outputs from Morrow, Williams and Johnson, LSU once again proved why it's among the top teams in the nation. This hard-fought win highlights its depth and ability to step up under pressure, with each player taking turns to lead when needed.
