Flau'Jae Johnson's stepdad Ameen Brooks showed his excitement over the Charlotte Hornets vs Los Angeles Lakers game. A video posted on Instagram by Bleacher Report on Wednesday showed Brandon Miller singing his teammate LaMelo Ball's brother LiAngelo Ball's song, "Tweaker," as other players prepared for the game in high spirits.

"Come on, y'all. Take that energy into the next game," point guard Ball addressed the room.

Brooks, who assists Johnson with her music, joined other fans to drop comments for the video.

"Energy is so important gang 🔥," he wrote.

Ameen Brooks does not view himself as Flau'Jae Johnson's dad

Ameen Brooks is married to Flau'Jae Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, but he said he does not view himself as the LSU star's stepdad.

“I don’t even call it stepdaddy because I feel like as a position of a dad and I married her mom, it’s like filling the gap,” he told On3 in June 2023. “Kia’s father got murdered. My father got murdered. Even Flau’Jae’s father was murdered.
"She never got to see her real father, so just filling in that gap to whatever Kia already had built with being a single-parent mother. That’s the most (important) part.”

Brooks also said that the family is united with a single mission, which he described as putting "all the eggs in the pot."

“Just everybody gotta put all the eggs in the pot,” he added. “So what my wife did, she put aside her job. She was doing dental. I put aside my job, and we just became entrepreneurs on our own. She was doing cooking and I was painting houses and stuff. But we were still working full throttle with Flau’Jae and when everything had hit home, now it’s really hitting home.”

Flau'Jae Johnson is in her junior year at LSU and has established herself as one of the key players for the sixth-ranked Tigers (17-0). Johnson is averaging 19.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 50.2% shooting per game. She also tops the NIL valuation list for women's college basketball with $1.5 million (On3).
