Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston seemed excited after watching Dawn Stanley's team from the sidelines. Sitting courtside to cheer on her alma mater, the former Gamecocks star posted a snippet on her Instagram showing her excitement in watching her old team.
Sharing a video on her story, Boston could be seen getting boppy as she traveled to South Carolina to watch her college side host a high-flying Duke team. The 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year was happy to watch her team and showed off her dance moves captioning the story:
"Dancing cause I'm watching my Gamecocks in person tn," she wrote.
Boston also shared a picture of her sitting courtside in the next story. In one of the biggest games of the season so far, the battle between No.3 South Carolina and No. 8 Duke, the Gamecocks emerged victorious 81-70.
When Aliyah Boston shared a heartfelt moment with Dawn Staley
Aliyah Boston and Dawn Staley shared a heartfelt moment during the Gamecocks Final Four win over NC State in April as the Indiana star was behind the mic for ESPN during the broadcast. Staley was a big part of Boston's development and shared a warm message when she was interviewed.
Coach Staley could be seen brimming with pride as Boston interviewed her. Calling it a proud moment, she said:
"This is a proud moment to be just on the other side of this mic, proud of your professionalism, proud that you know the game so much, that you are representing at the highest level. God is good to you."
The Fever forward reverted that God was indeed good but reminded her former coach that the moment was about her (Staley). The Gamecocks had just reached their third NCAA Finals in a row.
The Gamecocks' coach was also asked about the finals and being just one game away from the championship. She responded by saying that she was excited and that the players would be playing for the alumni who missed out on the ring, a season prior:
"This is the place we wanted to be, we wanna do it for you. We really want to take care of Sunday for you."
Coach Staley did live up to her word, as her side beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 to win the title. Interestingly, the Gamecocks defeated Boston's future teammate Caitlin Clark in the final.
