One of the senior players that Iowa Hawkeyes fans will miss most is guard Gabbie Marshall, who was an integral part of the rising superpower that the program became in the past three years.

While teammates Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin headed to the WNBA, Marshall called time on her basketball career, instead opting to pursue a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in North Carolina after graduating.

On Father's Day, the former Hawkeyes star shared both throwback and recent pictures of her father on her Instagram stories with a heartwarming message. She captioned it:

"Happy Father's Day to my biggest supporter and the best dad in the world!Love you pops @nemgrm."

Gabbie Marshall finishes Iowa career as part of Hawkeyes' 'Fab Three'

Alongside the mercurial Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall formed the bedrock of the dominant Iowa Hawkeyes team that reached two national championship games and won multiple Big Ten championships. Their parting is thus a big moment for the players and fans alike.

During her national championship postgame news conference, Marshall expressed her sadness at the trio's Iowa careers ending.

“We’ve been together for so long through the ups and the downs and everything in between,” Marshall said. “We’ve done pretty much everything together for these last five years, and I will have them in my life forever.
“I think that’s kind of where the emotion is coming from, just thinking of all we’ve done together from the Kinnick game until now,” Marshall said. “We’ve gotten to be the first to do things at the University of Iowa, and we’ve made history here together.”

Marshall was not always the star of the show with Caitlin Clark's brilliance often overshadowing her teammates who played the role of supporting cast, but Marshall's defensive brilliance and relentlessness made her a fan favorite.

Marshall also had games where she would shoot lights out from beyond the arc to get the Hawkeyes' offense going, including several clutch moments during tight games.

She made history by being the first player in Iowa history to register 200 made 3-pointers combined with 200 steals.

Gabbie Marshall has shown her support for her friends in the WNBA by going to their games, showing that the bond between Iowa's fab three is as strong as ever.
