Gabbie Marshall began her collegiate basketball career at the University of North Carolina before she transferred to Iowa for her freshman season in 2019–20. In her senior season, Marshall helped Iowa reach the 2023 and 2024 NCAA title games alongside superstar point guard Caitlin Clark. She was voted the Huskies team captain in her fifth year.

After her fifth season, Marshall opted to graduate instead of declaring for the 2024 WNBA draft. She later announced she would be studying for her Masters in Occupational Therapy at the University of North Carolina.

Gabbie Marshall's role in transforming Iowa into elite women's basketball program

The trio of Caitlin Clark, Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin have been credited for transforming Iowa into an elite basketball program. Although she was best known for her defense, Marshall showed her offensive abilities by becoming the 44th Hawkeye athlete to go past the 1000-point mark.

The 5-foot-9 guard also became the first women’s basketball player from Iowa to secure 200 3-pointers along with 200 steals (Clark joined later) and sits fifth on Iowa’s all-time steals list and fourth in 3-pointers.

Marshall recorded her best season for Iowa in her sophomore year, averaging 9.1 points per game. In her career, she averaged 6.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 40.6 shooting per game. As captain, she led Iowa to a title game win against Nebraska in the 2024 Big Ten tournament.

Now retired, Marshall remains one of the most talked about former women's basketball players. Off the court, she is doing well for herself. The Cincinnati native became the brand ambassador for "The Joint Chiropractic" in Coralville.

Marshall announced it on her Instagram page on July 2.

She wrote: "just swung by The Joint Chiropractic – Coralville for some personalized, quality care with a side of awesome! Thanks for keeping me in the game, even off the court. Check them out—they have a $29* new patient special!”

Despite leaving basketball for good, Marshall continues to support the Hawkeyes, including former and present players on social media.
