Paige Bueckers struggles as UConn routs Louisville in Women's Champions Classic

Paige Bueckers had a bad shooting night in UConn's dominant win against Louisville on Saturday. Bueckers finished 2-11 from the floor while missing all of her six goal attempts in the first half. However, she scored her first point of the game with 6:38 left in the second quarter and scored early in the third quarter.

Bueckers, who had earlier launched her signature Nike collection, ended the game with eight points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Meanwhile, the Huskies led the game with 52-28 rebounds, and 22 assists on 33 baskets. Freshman Sarah Strong led Geno Auriemma's side to victory with 21 points, while Ashlynn Shade reached double figures with 13 points. Azzi Fudd also added 18 points before checking out due to injury.

UConn made a strong start in the first quarter but struggled to sustain it in the second, allowing Louisville to get within 12 points. But Strong got the Huskies back on track, hitting both from the inside and out to end the first half 49-24 in favor of UConn.

The Huskies were on a roll after the break, hitting 10 straight points against the Cardinals. But they gave up a couple of free throws. Then, they responded with another 13 straight points and never looked back.

The win means UConn stays perfect at 8-0 at the start of the season. The Huskies will be on the road against No. 10 Notre Dame on Thursday, while the Cardinals host Grambling State the same day.
