It was a bitter end to Iowa alum Gabbie Marshall's basketball career after she was not selected in the WNBA draft. On the other hand, her teammate Kate Martin got drafted by the Las Vegas Aces. The duo remain close friends and often connect with each other.
The 5-foot-9 forward is enjoying her vacation in Seaside, Florida, looking ahead to life beyond the court. On Thursday, Marshall shared some beachside photos with her brother Noah and sister Lily. She posed on a wooden boardwalk on a sandy beach wearing a sleeveless, ribbed white dress.
"Last one, promise," Marshall wrote in the caption.
Her former Iowa teammate, Kate Martin, complimented Marshall by commenting on the post.
"Gorgeous," Martin wrote.
Jada Gyamfi also chimed in:
"I’m obsessed w you."
Here are some of the comments from other Iowa stars:
"U LOOK SO GOOD," Sydney Affolter wrote.
"Hot hot HOT," Hannah Stuelke added.
"SLAYING PT 3 you’re beautiful," Kylie Feuerbach commented.
Marshall's freshman season with Iowa was in 2019-20, the same season Kate Martin also made her start to college career. Although Martin came to Iowa City a year earlier, she missed the entire 2018-19 season due to an ACL injury. Last season, Marshall had her best statistical year, posting a career-high in points (13.1) and rebounds (6.8) per game.
Gabbie Marshall shares her new hair style
Gabbie Marshall recently surprised her fans with a new hairstyle. She changed her naturally curly dark hair to straight and blonde, showing off the new look on Instagram last Thursday. The Cincinnati native shared a video showing her hair before and after styling.
"Hair day. I’m obsessed!! Thank you Marianne @michaelchristophersalon," Marshall wrote.
Gabbie Marshall's natural hair has tight curls, but by styling at Michael Christopher Salon in Cleveland, Ohio, she managed to achieve a smooth, blonde look.
After five years of playing for the Hawleyes, Marshall plans to pursue a Master's degree in occupational therapy.
"As I am nearing my last month in Iowa City ready to take on the next chapter of my life, I have had lots of time to reflect on all the incredible memories I have made, opportunities I have been given, people I have met, and friendships that will last forever because of the game of basketball," Marshall wrote in her farewell post on Instagram.
Marshall declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft after her final year of college eligibility alongside her teammates Kate Martin and Caitlin Clark but unfortunately, she did not hear her name called and decided to retire from basketball.
