For UConn fans, the two draft nights of the 2024 NBA draft were unforgettable, as four of their alumni were selected. Head coach Dan Hurley also attended the event to congratulate his players on this grand moment in their careers.

Hurley, who rejected the Los Angeles Lakers' offer to be their head coach, has always been supportive and vocal about his players. After former Huskies Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer were picked on the second day of the draft, Hurley immediately congratulated them on social media. He shared a picture of himself with the two players, along with the caption:

"Great day for these 2 Champs!"

The back-to-back NCAA championship-winning coach also praised them separately. He shared his reaction to UConn basketball's post about Newton being picked 49th overall by the Indiana Pacers:

Dan Hurley also reacted to UConn's post about Spencer going to Memphis with the 53rd pick:

Newton greatly helped Coach Hurley secure back-to-back NCAA titles last season by averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. He won the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) of the tournament.

A 6-foot-4 guard Cameron Spencer also had a decent season at UConn. He was unstoppable in the championship game against Purdue. Spencer contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals as UConn secured a 75-60 victory over the Boilermakers.

Dan Hurley shared a moment with Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle on draft night

UConn head coach Dan Hurley was among the crowd on the first day of the NBA draft. He bumped into his former players Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle, hugged them and wished them good luck for their NBA journey.

"It’s a beautiful night," Hurley said. "You just want to see it culminated with the two guys being drafted into the right spots. You just want to see winning rewarded, really, in terms of what these organizations value. So it was great to see our guys picked high."

Clingan also spoke highly of his former coach and praised how much he has influenced college basketball over the years.

"Coach Hurley is the best coach in college basketball, and he's producing players at a high level every single year," Clingan said. "I love that man to death."

Meanwhile, during an ESPN interview with Hurley and Castle after the selection, Hurley praised Castle as the ideal choice for the San Antonio Spurs to draft.
