The University of Arkansas’s basketball team, led by head coach John Calipari, held its first annual father/son camp for Father’s Day weekend. The event was a big hit, with many fathers and sons coming together to play basketball and have fun. Coach Calipari expressed his excitement over the success of the camp on X:

"First annual father/son camp. Great turnout! So special to have these dads and their sons going through camp together on Father’s Day weekend!"

The two-day camp kicked off on Friday, June 14, at Bud Walton Arena and the Marsha and Marty Martin Basketball Performance Center. The Razorbacks' coaching staff and players guided father and son participants as they competed with fellow campers. The skill drills were created for both father and son to practice together at home, allowing them to develop their techniques.

NCAA champion head coach John Calipari took over as the head coach of Arkansas on April 10, succeeding Eric Musselman. This event also allowed Calipari to build a connection with the fans as he started his new tenure.

Calipari signed a five-year contract valued at $7 million per season, which also includes a $1 million signing bonus, annual retention bonuses of $500,000 and additional incentives tied to the Razorbacks' performance in the NCAA Tournament.

John Calipari bolsters coaching staff with five new hires

Arkansas head coach John Calipari welcomed five members to his coaching staff. The former Kentucky Wildcats coach brought staff from his previous team to occupy different positions within the Razorbacks. On Friday, Rivals' Mason Choate tweeted Arkansas' recent coaching staff appointments:

"Arkansas announces the latest additions for head coach John Calipari’s staff."

The team brought on board Bruiser Flint, a former UMass head coach, who will serve as a special assistant to the head coach. Chris Woolard, who has 13 years of experience working under John Calipari, is the new general manager for the Arkansas men's team.

Meanwhile, Lunetha Pryor, Kevin Butty, and Kevin Gallagher were also added to the panel. Pryor has worked with Calipari for 24 years and is now the Razorbacks chief of staff.

Kevin Butty, who worked as a video coordinator at Kentucky the previous season, will assume the same position in Arkansas. Similarly, Gallagher, who has been with Calipari and the Wildcats since 2018, will assist Butty as the assistant video coordinator.

Coach Calipari, who won the national championship with Kentucky in 2012 is a three-time recipient of the Naismith College Coach of the Year and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
