Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball coach Doug Gottlieb has secured his first major transfer commitment just two weeks into his coaching tenure with the team. As reported by Joe Tipton of On3, former Oklahoma State forward Isaiah Miranda has pledged to join Wisconsin-Green Bay for the 2024-25 season.

In a tweet hinting at his recruiting goals, Gottlieb wrote:

"If I can recruit one athlete as driven and competitive as my daughter Harper, we will win big."

He may have found one.

After finishing high school, Miranda, a four-star recruit, initially joined NC State before ultimately moving to Oklahoma State without ever playing for NC State. He had received offers from universities such as UConn, UCLA, Georgetown, Oregon, USC, Texas, Louisville, and Rhode Island.

However, the redshirt freshman, standing at 7-foot-1, only played in three games for the Cowboys. Miranda scored eight points, grabbed seven rebounds, and made one steal.

Mike Boynton, OSU's former coach mentioned that Miranda had some personal issues before deciding to depart from the team.

"Really good kid," Boynton added. "We’re pulling for him, but he won’t be with us moving forward."

Miranda last played on December 21, 2023, against Wofford.

Fox Sports Radio host/analyst Doug Gottlieb replaced Sundance Wicks as the coach of the Phoenix on May 14, 2024. Gottlieb was among the last contenders for the position last spring when Wicks ultimately secured the job.

"It is an honor beyond measure to be named the 10th men's basketball coach in UWGB history," Gottlieb said in his initial press conference. "Every kid has a dream growing up -- some want to be a firefighter, others want to be president. I have always wanted to be a head basketball coach at the Division I level."

In April, Gottlieb expressed his desire to become the HC of a Division I basketball team despite his resume not containing any collegiate coaching experience. But, he has contributed to the United States team staff during the 2009 and 2017 Maccabiah Games.

Speaking with "Inside Wisconsin" two weeks ago, Doug Gottlieb said:

"People who know me and know the sport in depth, it’s more me choosing to go in than it is the school giving me an opportunity since I haven’t coached in college,"

Gottlieb was also in the running for the Oklahoma State coaching job in 2017 and served as an advisor for the Cowboys' program last season.
