TCU star Hailey Van Lith was a doubt for Wednesday's game against Colorado due to food poisoning. However, the senior guard not only suited up and started, but also scored 14 points in the team's 63-50 over the Buffaloes.
Nick Girimonte, a writer for the Horned Frogs on Sports Illustrated, updated on Van Lith's status earlier in the day, noting that she had been participating in the team's walkthrough and warmups despite her illness.
"NEWS: Hailey Van Lith had food poisoning yesterday, but still was able to take part in walkthrough and warmups today. HVL is active and playing vs. Colorado but something to watch as the game goes on," Nick posted on Twitter.
Hailey Van Lith, a former LSU star, has been a key cog for the Horned Frogs this season, leading the team in scoring and assists at over 15 games. Against all the odds, she powered through her sickness by playing 35 minutes at Schollmaier Arena.
"It's not easy, especially with my role on the team. But at the end of the day, the other team doesn't care that I was sick," she said postgame regarding her decision to gear up (1:26).
"So, it was a tough game for me, and I just had to figure out what I could do to help us ultimately get the win ... So, I'll take that over any other outcome."
