Hailey Van Lith was among the few college basketball players to receive specially designed custom shoes from the California guard, Jayda Noble. The Golden Bears senior paints on sneakers and is pursuing this on the side while balancing her college career.
Van Lith, with Paige Bueckers and around 15 more stars, were sent "PR boxes" with Noble's work as she hopes to spread the word and grow her business.
“They’re beautiful. She’s obviously extremely talented. I’m just so grateful that she thought of me and that I inspired her to create such a beautiful piece of art,” Van Lith said (via Associated Press). “Very grateful for her, for using her artistic skills and creating such an awesome surprise.
"The one thing you love about Jayda is she’s such a genuine and authentic person. She’s going to be who she is and that’s what you love about her.”
The senior is still growing her business and clientele includes Indiana guard Myles Rice and a potential deal with Golden State Warriors star Jonathan Kuminga and Lindy Waters III.
Hailey Van Lith bounces back from loss to lead TCU to victory
After a disappointing season with the LSU Tigers, Hailey Van Lith transferred to TCU for her fifth and final season. The guard struggled under Kim Mulkey and saw reduced production.
Van Lith led the team on a nine-game winning streak. Their first loss was against No. 2 South Carolina last week. Since then, TCU is back to winning games as it won against Louisiana Tech and Samford this week.
Van Lith is averaging 19.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals. The guard credited her improvement to her TCU coaching staff and teammates.
"That’s a tribute to a lot of the environment that I’m in," she said. "Obviously, everybody knows my story and it’s been far from what I thought it would be but at the same time that was a very personal moment for me.
"With my personality, it’s hard for me to let people see me get like that, especially the whole world saw it. It is an inspiring story and it’s a story about perseverance, it’s a story about self-belief and I couldn’t have done it without the people around me."
The TCU Horned Frogs' last game before Christmas break is against UCF on Saturday.
