Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince combined for 28 points to lead the No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs to a 63-50 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes on Wednesday night at Schollmaier Arena.
Prince punished the Colorado defense on New Year's Day, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. It was the senior center's first double-double since Nov. 30, when she recorded 17 points and 13 boards in TCU's 87-46 win over the South Florida Bulls.
Van Lith discussed Prince's frontcourt dominance in the postgame press conference. A reporter asked Van Lith how the Horned Frogs responded to Colorado's physicality after a challenging first half. She gave Prince her flowers and said she was the difference in TCU taking control of the contest in the second half.
"I think we responded really well. Particularly, Sedona responded super well," Van Lith said (0:44). "She dominated in the second half and she controlled the paint, which was a big part of why we pulled away."
Both teams found it difficult to score points in the first half because of the physical nature of the contest. The Horned Frogs, who entered the halftime break with a 27-21 lead, turned things around in the third quarter thanks to Prince. She scored eight of her 14 points during that period to help TCU grab a 50-38 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
The Horned Frogs kept the Buffaloes at bay in the final period to nab the win and improve to 14-1. Prince was also a major factor on the defensive end, recording four steals and three blocks against the Buffaloes.
