Hannah Hidalgo has been at the forefront, leading the Fighting Irish to major wins this season, like against the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns. After two losses to TCU and Utah, Notre Dame is back at winning, taking home two straight wins.

Hidalgo commented on her achievement after the game, saying:

“Honestly, it’s truly a blessing to be able to reach that goal, considering all the guards ― Arike Ogunbowale, Skyler (Diggins-Smith), Jewel (Lloyd) ― all these top guards that have come through this program. I’m truly blessed and honored to have this accolade.”

Hannah Hidalgo comments on leading Notre Dame from the front

Hannah Hidalgo is one of the faces of the sport for this season, along with UConn's Paige Bueckers and USC's JuJu Watkins. Last season, she led Notre Dame on a Sweet 16 run and is expected to do the same for this season.

After Thursday's win over Texas, Hannah Hidalgo spoke about having to step up during big moments in games.

"I think I just, you know, guys have to give me the talent, and I'll just go out there. I have fun with it; I try to have fun every time I step on the court. Try not to make everything so serious, you know, because, you know, it's just a game.
"But, you know, of course I want to win. But, you know, just to say I'm just blessed."

Hannah Hidalgo played a crucial role during Notre Dame's win over USC, finishing with eight rebounds and five assists. Post-game, Notre Dame coach Nielle Ivey commented on the sophomore guard's performance.

"Big time player, big time stage,” Ivey said. "(I am) not at all shocked by what she did today. From the beginning, I told my team she guarded everybody on the court one time. (She is) just so feisty, so energetic. It’s contagious for our group. So unselfish.”

After Sunday's win, Hidalgo will lead the Fighting Irish on another important game against UConn on Thursday.
