Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo and Florida State standout Ta'Niya Latson have enormous talent. However, people didn't expect them to be chasing a statistic that was accomplished last by WNBA star Kelsey Plum.
The Bleacher Report women's sports page made a post via Instagram on Wednesday, highlighting the two players. It noted an X post referring to the statistic, as Hidalgo and Latson are averaging over 25 points per game on 50% shooting from the field or better this season.
The last person to achieve the feat was Plum in the 2016-17 campaign, when she played for the Washington Huskies, before going pro. She averaged 31.7 points on 52.9% shooting overall, breaking the NCAA record for points in a single season with 1,080 before Caitlin Clark surpassed her in the 2023-24 season.
"Averaging 25+ points on 50% shooting is INSANE," the post caption read.
How Hannah Hidalgo, Ta'Niya Latson have played this season
It is a significant milestone that Hannah Hidalgo and Ta'Niya Latson would have on their resume, taking into account that Kelsey Plum is a star in the WNBA thanks to her rise in college.

She has been a major contributor for a No. 3 Notre Dame squad that is rolling with a 14-2 record and which includes an active win streak of nine consecutive games. They are putting up 87.8 points on offense, blowing out opponents by a margin of 26.5 points per game.

Her efforts have allowed the team to have a 13-4 record as a team slowly getting attention in national rankings. The Seminoles have been offensively potent as well, producing 92.3 points as the second-best offense in the country, only behind Tennessee's 96.4 points.
Hannah Hidalgo and the No. 3 Fighting Irish will play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at the Purcell Pavilion on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET. As for Ta'Niya Latson, she and the Seminoles will host the Clemson Tigers at the Donald Tucker Civic Center on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
