"This has to be the ultimate compliment," a fan said.
In other comments, fans showered Williams with praise for her recognition from Kevin Durant:
LSU (10-0) continued its winning start to the season as Williams put up a season high in points and sent the game into overtime with 4.3 seconds left. Scoring six of the Tigers' 14 points in overtime, she continued to show up for LSU while Kaitlyn Gilbert booked 25 points off the bench and Flau'Jae Johnson put up 21 points to seal the victory.
Kim Mulkey drops assessment of Mikaylah Williams after comeback win over Stanford
LSU coach Kim Mulkey faced the media after the Tigers’ comeback win over Stanford on Friday and gave her assessment of Mikaylah Williams.
“Mikaylah works on her off days,” Mulkey said. “She's always in the gym. The thing I work with Mikaylah the most is that she’s hardest on her self. This game will humble you and reward you, move on to the next. She is a pleaser, she does not want to disappoint anybody, whether it's her parents or her coaches. Some kids have this personality where she thinks she ought to be carrying the team every game.”
Sitting with Mulkey was Williams, who reviewed the game and what it felt like to win in overtime.
“As long as there’s time on the clock, we still have a chance to win. That was the only thing on my mind. Then just staying disciplined when we were playing and making good shots and a little bit of God,” Williams said.
Mikaylah Williams has averaged 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a 47.6 FG% this season.
