Caitlin Clark spent four years with the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed one of the most iconic runs in the program's history. Her historic run with the team was recognized by Raising Cane’s. The restaurant chain decked out its Iowa City location in the guard's memorabilia, from jerseys to magazine covers.

With Clark at the front, the Hawkeyes made back-to-back trips to the championship game. They also won the Big Ten championship for three straight years.

Caitlin Clark also broke multiple individual records. She is now the NCAA Division I leading scorer and a two-time Naismith and USBWA winner. Clark took home the Nancy Lieberman and Dawn Staley awards, which recognize the best point guard, for three years straight.

Caitlin Clark explains the reason behind choosing Iowa over Notre Dame

It is well-known that Notre Dame was Caitlin Clark's dream school. During an appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce's 'New Heights' podcast, the guard spoke about why she loved the program so much.

“Then I visited Notre Dame a bunch of times. I loved it and as a kid, you want to go to Notre Dame," Clark said (via msn.com). "It has that tradition and has had so many great players go through there, in so many different sports."

Notre Dame was also the choice of the Clark family as her mother, Anne, had always hoped that Caitlin would play for the Fighting Irish. In the end, however, the guard chose Iowa and she explained why:

"But I could feel something in my gut that I wasn't supposed to go there. So I picked Iowa. I wanted to go somewhere that was good but hadn't been a 'blue blood' for quite a few years, and I could help them get back to that."

Caitlin Clark added that she wanted to pick a school that was the perfect distance from her family, and the University of Iowa ticked all the boxes.

Clark elevated the program and they are now ranked No. 23 with a 12-3 overall record.
