“He’s cooked”, “I love him” - College hoops fans react to UConn HC Dan Hurley’s latest interview

UConn coach Dan Hurley is known for his intense and animated sideline demeanor. In a recent media interview, his lively gestures and expressions got college basketball fans talking excitedly.

On Sunday, a Husky fan page shared a clip of Hurley's interview on X, where he could be seen moving his UConn hat up and down as if he were trying to take it off but then putting it back on.

The interviewer asked him if he feels any different about his life compared to a couple of years ago — to which Hurley replied:

"Well, certainly better."

Dan Hurley's intense facial expressions paired with emphatic hand movements captured the attention of the hoops community.

"Nah, he’s cooked 🍊," one fan commented on the post.
"Ngl I love him in a grudging way," another fan wrote.
"Who cares about sanity when we're winning," one fan said, unphased by Hurley's behavior.
"It seems to me he’s one of the most authentic individuals in sports today," another one commented.
"i’ve come around to respect his insanity i think," a fan confessed.

One fan even compared Hurley to an Academy Award-winning actor Christian Bale's character from the movie The Fighter.

"He reminds me of Christian Bales performance in the “The Fighter” where he plays Mark Wahlbergs drug addict brother," the fan wrote.

Dan Hurley opens up about his superstitions and "weirdo room"

Two time national champion coach Dan Hurley has his own set of quirks and superstitions that he follows while preparing for the game day.

Hurley, who is on a mission to win the three peat this coming season, has a certain routine and things he performs on game days, which he revealed during an interview with Graham Bensinger in September.

"For me superstitions, it's like my armor, whether it's any of the superheroes or the animals or the unerdwear or my pre walking on to the court rituals of holy water, it gives strenth and help me relax," Hurley said. [59:26]

During the exclusive interview, Dan Hurley also gave an insight into his "weirdo room" which is filled with all of his favorite collectibles.

"[2:18] There's all the stuff that make me happy or that I like or that empower me, Hurley said. "I do all my art in there too, all of my pieces, all my prayer, my meditation, my journaling, just all the stuff that either empowers me or helps me recharge."

Moreover, Hurley also shared that he always eats M&Ms before games and as part of his rituals, he takes a few half-court shots before starting practice.
