Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, is playing his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York. The Syracuse commit made his season debut against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute on Saturday and helped the Crusaders win 74-35.
Ballislife shared the highlights of Kiyan's game on Instagram on Friday with the caption:
"Kiyan Anthony caught a BODY in his senior season debut 🤯🤯."
Fans in the comments expressed shock at Anthony's immense growth while some others compared him to other NBA stars' kids like Bronny James, who played for Sierra Canyon.
"He is what we thought Bronny would be like," a fan wrote.
"He is on the way to being the best NBA player's son since Steph Curry," another fan commented.
"He may be lite years ahead of Bronny ... lesson learn don't skip steps to get to the top," another commenter said.
Meanwhile, a number of comments mentioned his dad Melo, with one seeing a bit of the former Knicks star in Kiyan:
"Baby Melo about to be a problem. Get ready"
"He really can do everything Melo should be proud"
"Oh nah he looking like Pop dukes out there"
Kiyan Anthony reveals the reason behind his Syracuse commitment
Kiyan is a four-star recruit in the 2025 class and is ranked No. 36 nationally by ESPN. On Nov. 15, during the season opener of Carmelo Anthoy's podcast, '7PM in Brooklyn', Anthony committed to his father's alma mater, Syracuse.
Explaining his reason behind choosing the Orange, he said:
"Ultimately, it came down to my relationship with the staff. From day one, when they started recruiting me, they made me feel like it was family.
"My dad's name on the facility is special, but I want to go in there and create my own name, and I've already done that through my dedication in the offseason, with early-morning practices, playing at camps, playing on the circuit."
The Syracuse Orange's first and only national championship in 2003 led by Melo. With Kiyan's commitment, fans are hoping for a similar run with the young guard.
