Paige Bueckers is all set for her fifth season with the UConn Huskies. After a Final Four exit last season, the guard would like to end her college career with an NCAA championship.
On Sunday, Bueckers shared media pictures for the new season on Instagram.
"Oldhead year," she wrote in the caption.
Paige Bueckers' UConn teammates reacted to the photos in the comments.
"let’s get ittt 😁🤩," fellow fifth-year senior Aubrey Griffin wrote.
"HEY GRANDPA," KK Arnold commented.
"Woooo 🤩," wrote Princeton transfer Kaitlyn Chen.
Paige Bueckers is without two key contributors from last season, as Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards have left for the WNBA. However, the return of Azzi Fudd and Aubrey Griffin, along with the arrival of freshmen prospects Sarah Strong, Morgan Cheli, and Allie Ziebell, is expected to boost UConn's chances.
Paige Bueckers hits back at haters for criticizing her world tour
During the offseason, Paige Bueckers attended multiple sporting events and made her debut at the New York Fashion Week.
However, some people on the internet criticized Paige Bueckers for not training for her final season. The guard addressed the haters in an interview with the media on Friday.
"Everybody saw the 'World Tour,' they didn't see the 'Work Tour' which is fine," Bueckers said (via SI). "They see me like three or four hours a day and think they know my entire 24 hours, which is cool, it's fine. The work will always show. I'm a believer in that and I have confidence in that."
"I can already see if I don't have a game up to other people's standards it's like 'should've been in the gym all summer, shouldn't have been doing this, shouldn't have been doing that,' but luckily I don't play for their approval.
"I play for God, I play for teammates, I play for my coaching staff, I play for the people who support me good game or bad in their opinion," she added.
Paige Bueckers is expected to go first overall in the 2025 WNBA draft.
