The TCU Horned Frogs began their summer workout sessions in the second week of June. Guard Hailey Van Lith and forward Sedona Prince have been bonding while doing the work.
Van Lith entered the transfer portal in April, following a season with the LSU Tigers. She will be playing her fifth year of college basketball.
Women’s Hoops Network X/Twitter account shared a picture of Van Lith and Prince from the TSU's training facility on Tuesday, with the caption:
"I’m ready for this."
The reaction to their pairing has been mixed.
One fan hailed Van Lith and shared his excitement for the 2024-25 season.
"HVL aura is undefeated," the fan commented.
Another TSU fan wished for Van Lith to return to the level of play she showed at Louisville.
"I really hope she plays well. Just didn’t work at LSU," the fan wrote.
"I need Hailey Van Lith on the LA Sparks sooooo bad next season," one commented.
"Hope HVL aint at point. She's not a ball handler. She's just a shooter, and barely that. And her defense needs work. She top a massive step back at LSU. And I really think it was the pressure of playing on a team full of talent and SEC. Its a lil easier to stand out at Louisville," another fan commented.
Others are dissatisfied with Van Lith due to her frequent team changes.
"You are ready for HVL to quit another team and transfer again?????" one fan penned.
Some argue that Prince is too old to be playing in college.
"Isn’t Sedona like 40 now? Why is she still in college?" a fan commented.
Hailey Van Lith brings a wealth of experience to TCU
As a fifth-year senior, Hailey Van Lith brings her impressive track record to an already stacked roster at TCU. Despite her struggles at LSU last season, she has consistently reached at least the Elite Eight in each of her four college seasons.
Her best year was in 2022-23 at Louisville during which she averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. For 2024-25, Van Lith joins the Frogs alongside All-Big 12 guard Madison Conner, Sedona Prince, Maddie Scherr and Taylor Bigby.
The Horned Frogs finished the 2023 season ninth in the Big 12. But TCU coach Mark Campbell has assembled a compelling team for the new season capable of competing.
