"HVL is the official face of getting cooked": Fans blast Team USA after going 0-3 in Paris Olympics 2024

Hailey Van Lith came under the scope after Team USA's women's basketball 3x3 team suffered its third consecutive defeat at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday.

Fans on X didn't take long to slam the TCU Horned Frogs star, with several users also pointing the blame at the selection committee for the team going 0-3 at this year's Olympics pool play.

There was a barrage of tweets aimed at Van Lith after the USA's 17-15 defeat to Australia. Some stepped in to have a go at the former LSU star.

"HVV is the official face of getting cooked," tweeted a user.

"Maybe Hailey V will shop around for another country to chase a gold medal." one tweeted.

"Poor Hailey people keep using her pic for these posts," tweeted a third.

Some also suggested that the US team wasn't well-equipped for the 3x3 event at the Olympics.

"The team they picked for the women’s 3x3 wasn’t a good mix. Even if Brink wasn’t hurt, she wouldn’t be adding a ton of help." one tweeted.

"THIS IS DISGRACEFUL! Even the men's squad is basic. HOW?" another fan tweeted.

"Thats what you get for playing favorites and not the best players. Ive seen other usa teams playing 3x3 who would bury this bunch," a user tweeted.

The US women's 3x3 basketball team needs to win its two remaining pool games to stand any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

The US women's team is the reigning champion, having won the gold at the Tokyo Olympics. However, there's a possibility that Van Lith and Co. may not even get a medal this year.

The USA's women's 3x3 basketball team has two more pool games at the Paris Olympics. They square off against France on Aug. 2, with tip-off at 7 a.m. ET. Their final pool game will also take place against France on Aug. 3, with tip-off at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Team USA is in the No. 8 spot, at the bottom of the standings, but they could qualify for the Play-In games if they secure a top-six berth.
