College basketball analyst Sam Vecenie believes that Bronny James may be receiving exaggerated attention because of his famous last name. Vecenie, who analyzes NBA drafts, has suggested that LeBron's son, Bronny, should consider joining Dru Joyce's Duquesne Dukes team instead of pursuing an NBA career.
According to Vecenie, despite being the son of the NBA legend, Bronny does not currently have the on-court performance to be considered a first-round draft prospect. He pointed out that at 6'2", Bronny's ball-handling abilities are not strong, and his shooting statistics are underwhelming.
Vecenie even mentioned that Bronny would be the only one-and-done player under 6'1" to be drafted with such poor production.
“The best thing that was suggested to me by people around the basketball world was Bronny should go back to college go to Duquesne and transfer where Dru Joyce is there,” Vecenie said.
Vecenie said that Bronny should return to college, specifically to Duquesne, and play under the guidance of coach Joyce, who played with LeBron in high school.
He believes that if Bronny's time at USC did not go well, transferring to Duquesne under Joyce's mentorship would be a good move for his development.
“If you needed a trust factor if you feel like USC didn't go well… I can't imagine them not trusting Dru Joyce to really take care of Bronny and just letting him develop like… guys are so good in the NBA,” Vecenie said. [Timestamp – 1:25:00]
Where Bronny James might land in the NBA draft
According to media reports, people are discussing the potential NBA draft options for LeBron Raymone “Bronny” James. The Lakers, Suns, Mavericks, and 76ers are among the teams considering Bronny. The Lakers could draft Bronny to potentially retain LeBron, as playing in the NBA alongside his son is one of his few remaining goals.
Although the Suns may consider drafting Bronny, reports from the Inquirer suggest that Dallas and Philadelphia are also potential but unlikely destinations for him.
Previous speculation has linked LeBron to Philadelphia, and many believe he could be a great addition to the Sixers.
