Kim Mulkey praises LSU players' winning mentality after victory vs Vanderbilt

LSU remains undefeated in women's college basketball this season, with a winning streak of 19-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southeastern Conference. On Monday, the Tigers defeated a spirited Vanderbilt Commodores at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC).

After the game, Kim Mulkey praised her team's winning mentality, despite struggling from beyond the arc.

“They know how to make plays when it counts," she said. "We might stumble at times, but we always come together and embrace the moment.”

Both teams fiercely traded baskets evenly in the first half. However, the Commodores dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 44–40 thanks to a steal and basket from Khamil Pierre. But LSU quickly answered back with Aneesah Morrow scoring two quick buckets. Mikaylah Williams added a fantastic layup for the Tigers to take a slight 58–57 lead heading into the final quarter.

Despite Vanderbilt's valiant efforts, the Commodores couldn't overcome LSU rebounds and ultimately lost the game. The game also saw Morrow grab her 1,500th career rebound, becoming the eighth player in NCAA history to achieve over 2,500 career points and 1,500 career rebounds.

Meanwhile, LSU will take on Florida in Gainesville on Sunday.
