Shelomi Sanders, the youngest daughter of football legend Deion Sanders, recently sparked some laughs among friends and family over her driving skills. As she begins a promising chapter in her college basketball career, her friends couldn’t resist poking fun at her driving skills on social media.
Shelomi, who transferred from Colorado to Alabama A&M on 26 April 2024, has gained attention for her impressive court presence. However, that hasn’t stopped her friends from critiquing her driving. Her close friend Ahkia Green recently posted a funny Instagram story about her. It featured a humorous video clip of a frustrated passenger.
The clip showed a man reacting to a bumpy car ride, exclaiming,
“Run over the pothole when I’m in the car. Let my head hit the top of the car one more time. Do you know what you are doing? Do you need me to get behind the wheel?”
Green tagged Shelomi in the post, humorously implying that Shelomi’s driving might have been a bit rough. In response, Shelomi reposted the video with a defense, saying,
“y’all I hit a curb ONE time now she swear I can’t drive .”
However, Green quickly fired back with a repost, saying,
“CAUSE YOU CAN’T, it was definitely more than once.”
Shelomi Sanders' father also chimed in, questioning her driving skill
Green wasn’t the only one poking fun. Even Deion Sanders joined in on the joke. Before her recent game for Alabama A&M on November 8, Deion decided to check in on his daughter via FaceTime.
During their call, Deion pulled a lighthearted prank. He told Shelomi he’d pray for her, and she closed her eyes. He teasingly asked,
“BABY YOU DRIVING AIN’TCha?”
This immediately made Shelomi burst out laughing. Deion later posted a screenshot from the FaceTime call on Instagram.
After a challenging stint with Colorado, Shelomi decided to transfer to Alabama A&M to join the Bulldogs in the Southeastern Conference. However, her father initially described her as “stupid”.
In her debut game with Alabama A&M on 4 November 2024, Shelomi scored an impressive 14 points in just 10 minutes. However, her second game didn’t end in a victory for the team, who lost to Alabama 59-84. Yet, she made a strong start with a field goal percentage of 41.6%. Coach Prime took to Instagram to celebrate his daughter’s achievement. He posted,
“I’m SO PROUD OF MY BABYGIRL! Bossy do yo thang baby. You took our Conversation to heart yesterday and sprinted with it. Love u baby. Don’t ever Stop letting them know you’re a Sanders. We’re built for Adversity! 14pts 2stls 1blk 1rb 10 min!!! Thank u JESUS for Opportunity.”
Shelomi responded, commenting, “dabooo daboo dabooo.” Her mother, Pilar Sanders, also took to social media to show her pride in Shelomi’s achievements. After Alabama A&M won a game against another opponent with an impressive score of 96-50, Pilar posted a celebratory video on TikTok.
She wrote, “Shelomi, y’all, my baby got it completely honest! And I love it!! Congrats, Lady Bulldogs, 96-50 win.”
Pilar tagged Shelomi’s brothers, Shedeur and Shilo. Shelomi’s performance has helped the Bulldogs gain an edge.
