LSU’s Flau'jae Johnson is seeing her numbers soar this season. With 22.3 points per game, the junior guard is leading the Tigers’ scoring charge and her coach Kim Mulkey can't help but be in awe of her work ethic.

Johnson posted 22 points and two assists in LSU’s win against North Carolina Central on Sunday in their return to Baton Rouge.

The Tigers traveled to the Bahamas over Thanksgiving for the Pink Flamingo Championship, where Johnson helped lead the team to victories over Washington and No. 20 NC State, scoring a total of 38 points.

Flau'jae Johnson, who has been a revelation for the No. 7 LSU, scored a total of 201 points after the Eagles game, becoming the fastest player to reach 200 points in the SEC this season.

Speaking with the media after the game, Kim Mulkey talked about Johnson’s growth this campaign.

"I think she's just more mature each year," Mulkey said (6:40). You're supposed to get better, and it doesn't take a coach to tell you what you need to work on. It just takes playing, and when you're playing, you remember things from the previous year."
"I just think Flau'jae has this crazy work ethic," she added. "When you think about this kid, she gets up at 5:00 in the morning, she has to go to school, she has to do her music, she has to work on her game, then she has to come to practice. I don't know how she does it, but she does it and makes it work and she's reaping the rewards from her hard work."

Flau'jae Johnson gets a shoutout from LSU newcomers

LSU Tigers, who are 9-0 on the season, have no shortage of talent, with Aneesah Morrow and Mikaylah Williams also contributing to the scoring production.

Newcomers — freshman Jada Richard and sophomore transfer Mjracle Sheppard — have also been impressive additions to the Tigers' roster this year. In the recent press conference, Richard and Sheppard had high praise for their teammate Flau'jae Johnson.

"Honestly, Flau'jae has a very good work ethic and it's just cool to see from the inside perspective instead of the outside, learning from her quickness and speed and just the way she's able to flow in the game," Mjracle said.
"Her work ethic is amazing, and coming from someone who thought I had a good work ethic, I mean, looking at Flau'jae Johnson, she works super hard and she's super strong," Jada added.

In the game against NC Central, Sheppard put up 10 points and seven rebounds, while Richard also scored 10 points, with both players coming off the bench.
