Friday was a special occasion for LSU star Flau'jae Johnson, one of college basketball's most valuable players with an NIL value of $1.5 million, per On3. She block-booked the day to watch Unrivaled put together by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.

Stewart and Collier founded the league last year, featuring a brand new style of 3v3 basketball. The games will be played on a compressed full court (70X50 feet). The league is also setting a record with the highest average salaries in women’s sports history. All 36 initial players will receive equity ownership, according to the league's official site.

Johnson uploaded a reel to her Instagram page on Friday, which starts with her doing a freestyle rap before receiving a call from a friend. When they ask her about her plans that day, she reveals what she'll be doing:

"I'll be at home watching tv," Flau'jae Johnson said, alluding to the Unrivaled basketball league.

Flau'jae Johnson can be pleased with Unrivaled's debut

It would be safe to say Flau'jae Johnson enjoyed the experience of Unrivaled's first day as an active basketball league.

The first two games were decided by six points or less, seeing Collier have 27 points and 11 rebounds in the Lunar Owls' 84-80 win as Stewart had six points and 14 rebounds. The other contest saw Rhyne Howard's Vinyl beat Angel Reese's Rose by a score of 79-73.

It even featured the first game-winning shot in league history, courtesy of the Owls' Skylar Diggins-Smith. She nailed two three-pointers late to pull the feat.

“That’s the thing about this game, you can come back at any time,” said Diggins-Smith, the WNBA and former Notre Dame star.

Unrivaled commissioner Alex Bazzell provided her thoughts on the league's debut, being optimistic about its upside as he looks forward to having it grow with solid fan support over time.

“We aren’t expecting WNBA viewership numbers. I think what we’re trying to do is get better from week to week, put out a great product, focus on the athletes. If we do that, I think good things will happen,” Bazzell said.
“We put ourselves in a great position to be successful right away. But it’s a marathon. We’re not running out there from Day 1 trying to get millions of viewers out of the gate. It would be tremendous. But we’re going to be here for a while. We have some time to build this and get this momentum rolling."

With the Unrivaled debut out of the way, Flau'jae Johnson will focus on the No. 5 LSU Tigers' upcoming matchup with the Florida Gators at the Exactech Arena on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
