Jada Gyamfi and Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin are two significant pieces from the iconic Iowa Hawkeyes squad. Together, alongside Caitlin Clark, they played huge roles in promoting women's basketball, making Iowa's 2024 NCAA finals the most watched non-Olympics women's sporting event, as its viewership outnumbered UConn Huskies' consecutive title hunt.

As Kate Martin and Gyamfi looked back at their college time on the Fresh Tawk podcast uploaded on Aug. 6, the WNBA rookie shared a hilarious interaction with a fan that occurred a day before shooting the podcast.

"Yeah, actually speaking of Snapchat filters, I was at Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday doing like an autograph signing and some guy like came up to take like a selfie with me," Martin began. "And he had this beauty filter on Snapchat and he was like, he wasn't trying to be funny. My eyelashes were this long, I looked like I had Botox and like a completely different person, and I was like 'Okay filter," she added.
"I don't know, it just made me laugh. No judgment but it just cracked me up because I was like 'Who is that in the picture with you in this selfie because that's not me? But thanks for making me look decent.' It made me laugh," Martin followed.

Even though Kate Martin was not a prominent scoring option for the Iowa Hawkeyes, her presence was known to impact the overall chemistry and fluency on the roster, making her the glue of the Hawkeyes.

Meanwhile, Gyamfi, despite her restricted minutes on the court, cultivated an image of being the locker room maestro, ensuring the spirits of her teammates remained high at all times. She's slated to play significant minutes in the 2024-25 season and potentially mount one of her best collegiate seasons.

Kate Martin canceled her months-long trip with Jada Gyamfi and Gabbie Marshall due to WNBA selection

After the Iowa Hawkeyes' 2024 NCAA journey came to an end in the finals, Kate Martin thought she had made her last basketball bucket. Furthermore, she didn't garner an invite from the WNBA for the draft night.

Nevertheless, Martin made an appearance in the New York arena to support Caitlin Clark, who was slated to be the top pick in the draft. Martin was intimidated with the idea a potential selection but shifted to the area where prospects from all around the nation were sitting.

With the Las Vegas Aces drafted Kate Martin as the 18th pick, her summer plans with Jada Gyamfi and Gabbie Marshall came to an end. The trio had planned a 2-month long trip in the lap of nature, with plans of minimal social media interaction.
