"I love me baby yoda": Coach Prime's daughter Shelomi Sanders excitedly reacts to her custom crochet hat on IG

Shelomi Sanders, the youngest daughter of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, shared a video on her Instagram story on Monday which showed an artist crocheting a hat for her and delivering it to the college hooper.

The artist had crocheted the hat to resemble the Star Wars character, Baby Yoda's ears and head.

Shelomi Sanders is a 5' 6" guard and is in her junior year of college. In her rookie year, she played with the Jackson State Tigers and then moved to the Colorado Buffaloes in her sophomore year. Her father, Deion Sanders coaches the Buffaloes football team. Now in her junior year, Sanders is with the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.

Shelomi Sanders transfers to Alabama A&M

In November 2024, Shelomi Sanders decided to enter the transfer portal, leaving the University of Colorado behind. The move sparked widespread speculation, especially since her father was the coach of the University's football team.

During a livestream on social media, Sanders spoke about her experience in Colorado, explaining that the environment wasn’t conducive to her development.

“I don’t want to say anything too bad," she said. "It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”

At Colorado, she had under 10 minutes of game-time across five games. Sanders's transfer to Alabama A&M, marked her return to a HBCU. In an exhibition game at the start of the season, Sanders scored 14 points in a dominant 96-50 victory over Oakwood.

Initially, Shelomi’s decision to leave Colorado was met with negative reactions, even from her father, who referred to her transfer to Alabama A&M as “stupid.” However, after her debut at Alabama A&M, he took to social media to celebrate her achievement, writing:

“Shelomi Sanders balled out in her debut with Alabama A&M.”
