LSU guard Flau'jae Johnson is living her dream: thriving in college basketball, releasing her first album, and recently launching a new podcast, 'Best of Both Worlds'. She also delivered a stunning performance at the 2024 WNBA All-Star weekend in Phoenix, Arizona.
On her podcast on Saturday, Johnson shared a funny story with her mother about how she got back at UCLA's sophomore Lauren Betts.
"Lauren Betts is 6'8" and she ain't no scrub. And I told everybody in practice the day before the game. It's UCLA, Elite 8 game. I told everybody I'm a lay her, and I'm a block her. And I had lowkey undercover smoke. I love you Lauren, but I had smoke with you because they ranked you number one in my class now," Johnson said.
"I always had smoke with everybody above me. So I said when I come out there, UCLA, I'm blocking her and I'm laying her. I ended up blocking her on like a shot that was crucial to the game and I ended up laying her to seal the game."
Betts then commented on the post.
"Alright," Betts replied with a smiling face emoji.
Johnson responded with a kissing emoji.
Flau'jae Johnson was definitely talking about the NCAA Sweet Sixteen game on March 30 where the LSU Tigers defeated UCLA Bruins at MVP Arena. Johnson finished the game with team-highs in points (24) and rebounds (12) to guide the Tigers to the Elite Eight.
Lauren Betts, who had 14 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks in that game, had a decent first season with UCLA, averaging 14.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 64.3 FG%.
Flau'jae Johnson speaks on Team USA's decision to leave Caitlin Clark out
Flau'jae Johnson, a 2023 NCAA champion, gave her opinion regarding Caitlin Clark not getting selected for the US national team. Last Wednesday, she discussed Team USA's decision to snub the potential WNBA Rookie of the Year, on her podcast, Best of Both Worlds.
"How would you feel if I was on Team USA and I had worked all of these years... and then this girl comes, right?" Johnson told Kia J Brooks.
"She ain't do not a practice, not a nothing, and we in this in there practicing together. Did all of that; she just come, she just take my spot, because she is lit right now. How would you feel?" She's only a rookie. She has time to grow, I believe," Johnson added.
Team WNBA defeated Team USA 117-109 in the All-Star game on Saturday. Clark, who started the game, contributed four points, ten assists and one rebound.
