“I’m gonna call JuJu Watkins”: Hoops fans share ways to guard Paige Bueckers on UConn star’s practice clip

Paige Bueckers is well-known as one of the best players in women's college basketball for a reason. From high school through college with the UConn Huskies, the guard has been consistent in leading her team with her scoring and playmaking skills.

The Overtime women's basketball page shared a video on Instagram featuring Bueckers in practice. Her trainer tried his best to guard and stop her from scoring.

"How would you guard Paige!?" the text in the video asked.
"The answer is you can’t," the post caption read.

It didn't take long for fans to react to the post, naming their methods of attempting to stop Bueckers from having the upper hand. Here are some of their reactions.

"Paige is very good at creating space for herself...so I would guard her like Citron from Notre Dame - got to be super fast/on her. I would also use my short height to my advantage and steal the ball before she can even get her shot off. Tall people can't dribble. jk," one fan commented.

What's next for Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies

Paige Bueckers and the No. 6 Huskies have showcased dominance throughout the 2024-25 season. Bueckers is averaging 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and two steals after 17 games. She is shooting 56.1% from the field, including 41.3% from beyond the arc.

The fifth-year guard has been pivotal to UConn having a 17-2 overall record, including a perfect 8-0 showing in conference play. They are averaging 79.4 points on shooting splits of 51.1% overall and 36.6% from downtown, blowing out opponents by a margin of 28.9 points per game.

Following Wednesday's matchup against the Villanova Wildcats, Paige Bueckers and the No. 6 Huskies will face the Creighton Blue Jays at the D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Nebraska, on Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
