UConn guard Paige Bueckers has become a bonafide star on the college basketball scene. The Minnesota native is also highly engaged with her fans off-court, frequently posting on social media and sharing snippets of her life that go beyond the hardwood.
Bueckers is not a natural blonde; she has been coloring her hair since her teenage years. She spoke with Allure Magazine this week after she dyed her hair pastel pink. She shared details about her new shade and discussed how beauty and fashion enhance her performance. Allure asked Bueckers about the challenges of maintaining a vibrant look.
"I'm honestly not very good with doing everything by myself. The only thing I really know how to do is a slicked-back bun and a ponytail," Bueckers said. "Sometimes I'll have my teammates braid my hair; [they’ll do] two French braids so when I take it out, it's curly."
"I have been feeling the half-up, half-down as well. I've been doing that a lot. And then I like having two little pieces out on the front and the rest back. When I was in high school, the only thing I did was straighten it, and that's not the healthiest thing for my hair. So I'm trying to do different things and take care of it better."
Paige Bueckers also mentioned her friend Kayla helps her with her signature game day hairstyle, which includes a braid on the side.
"Well, you have to know how to braid. I personally don’t, so I have my friend Kayla do it, Bueckers said. "I start by making a middle part using a comb and then she does a braid on either side. And then I usually just use a hair gel wax stick to get all the flyaways. To make sure that my ponytail is very slick, I usually straighten it. That's basically it. It takes about 15, 20 minutes."
Paige Bueckers signs a new NIL deal with a hair color product company
Paige Bueckers has signed a lucrative NIL deal with a popular hair color brand, Madison Reed, to endorse their ColorWonder demi-permanent hair color. The 6-foot athlete shared via an Instagram post that she will become a brand ambassador for the company.
"Blessed to partner with @madisonreed as a Brand Ambassador and share how ColorWonder lets me have fun with my hair color," Bueckers captioned the post.
Her teammates Azzi Fudd, Morgan Cheli and Isuneh Brady were also featured in 'Team ColorWonder' campaign and will join Paige Bueckers in representing the hair color company.
