Earlier this month, the UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers attended the 2024 ESPY Awards, where she was nominated for Best Comeback Athlete. Though she was beaten to the award by star gymnast Simone Biles, Bueckers would go viral for what she was wearing at the event.
Bueckers attended the ceremony wearing a two-piece lavender suit that was designed by Colm Dillane.
Recently, the Huskies point guard paired up with StockX to talk about her thoughts on the lavender outfit she wore. During the conversation, she said that:
"When I put it on, it was perfect... (on being told that she didn't take it off). It was hot. I was sweating on the red carpet."
Paige Bueckers is the key player for the successful UCONN Huskies women's basketball team. During the 2023 season, she recorded an average 21.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
She was a leading member in the Huskies' successful run to the Final Four of the women's NCAA tournament. However, this run would end with a close battle with the Iowa Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark, another one of women's basketball's rising stars.
The recent season was a monumental one for women's basketball, and Bueckers was one of the main players in this rise. However, unlike many of her fellow players, Bueckers did not declare for the WNBA draft and has decided to stay in college for one more season.
Paige Bueckers gives her opinion of the US Women's Basketball Olympic team
The eyes of the women's basketball world (and most of the sporting world) are on Paris, as the French capital is hosting the Olympic Games.
In it, the US Women's basketball team are hoping to continue their dominant run in the event and win another gold medal, which will be their eighth consecutive.
Coached by Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeves, the team is full of the best players from the WNBA. However, the team has controversially left out Caitlin Clark.
The US played their first game of the group stage on Monday against Japan, where they would dominate their opponents for a 102-76 victory.
This dominance was picked up by Paige Bueckers, who said on X after the game:
"The A’ja & Stewie frontcourt is unfair"
This is a reference to the performances by A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart. The pair are two of the WNBA's best players, and their strong performances were a key part of the US's big victory.
While Paige Bueckers was not able to make the Olympic team this time, in four years, she will most probably, alongside Caitlin Clark, be a prominent feature of Team USA.
