The Iowa Hawkeyes are making the best of their offseason. After welcoming the freshman earlier this month, the team got together for a Taco night. New transfer portal signee Lucy Olsen shared the picture from their downtime on her Instagram.

The photos included Hannah Stuelke, Kylie Feuerbach, Taylor McCabe, and Sydney Affolter, along with incoming freshmen Aaliyah Guyton and Taylor Stremlow.

"Taco nighttt," the caption read

The Iowa Hawkeyes have had the most eventful offseason, good and bad, with Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin being drafted into the WNBA. Gabbie Marshall and Molly Davis exhausted their college eligibility. Ava Jones announced her medical retirement from playing after an accident in 2022 that left her with torn ligaments in both knees and a shoulder injury.

Besides roster changes, there were a few staffing changes as well. Lisa Bluder and Jenni Fitzgerald have both retired from coaching. Jan Jensen has now taken over as the head coach.

Lucy Olsen to fill the Caitlin Clark void in the Iowa roster

After two unimpressive seasons, Lucy Olsen performed best in her junior year. The former Villanova guard averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting 43.8% from the floor.

Olsen is expected to be the most probable replacement for Caitlin Clark on the scoring front. She has been following the former Hawkeyes guard's performance throughout the 2023-24 season.

“They were so fun to watch. Caitlin Clark was so amazing,” Olsen said (via Hawk Central) “And I tried to learn from Caitlin. Every night, just trying to learn from her. I tried to pick up her change of pace and how she does it.”
“Caitlin Clark is Caitlin Clark. I’m not going to try to be her,” she added. “But they need a point guard, and it’s a perfect opportunity to try to make something happen. I just love to win. Whatever coach needs me to do: scoring, assists, defense. Yeah, I’m there to win.”

Hannah Stuelke was the next big contributor for Iowa last season and she is expected to take a bigger role in the team. Sydney Affolter and Kylie Feuerbach are both entering their final season as Hawkeyes and could play a crucial role too.
