Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies were in Washington D.C. on Tuesday to celebrate their 2024 NCAA championship win with President Joe Biden. This was Hurley's second visit to the White House and the sixth time for the Huskies program.

The UConn Huskies shared pictures from the day on their Instagram and wrote:

"Same time next year?"

During the meeting with Biden, Hurley shared the story of his red underwear after the President brought up his famous superstition (via CNN.com):

“Well, it’s not just the dragons,” Hurley said. “I have sharks, I have wolves. I ride the hot hand. And actually, I don’t just make the dragons do the games, I actually got the dragons on right now as a reward for the dragons. They are on right now.”

By now, it is a well-known story that Dan Hurley only wears his red dragon underwear during the March Madness run. It has worked for him twice so far, and he does not plan on giving it up anytime soon.

Hurley also spoke about his unease with being in the White House, despite it being his second time:

"I thought this would be easier in Year 2. Oh, man I've been to the White House before. This is scary as s**t."

Dan Hurley's Huskies prepare for their shot at a third championship

After winning their second straight title in 2024, the Huskies are expected to continue their run and win a third straight championship. This would make them the first team since the 1970s UCLA Bruins to win back-to-back-to-back championships.

During the same visit, Dan Hurley commented on his hunger to win more championships (via CT Insider):

"Later on in life, maybe we'll appreciate what we did," Hurley said. "But at this point, the last thing we're ever thinking about is what we did. It's the next recruit, the next practice, it's the upcoming season. It's the next thing we've got to do, to do this thing again."

After losing four starters – Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle, Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton – to the NBA draft and college eligibility, Dan Hurley has had to add more talents to the roster. Aidan Mahaney and Tarris Reed Jr. joined from the transfer portal while Liam McNeeley, Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham are the program's freshman recruits.

"We’re just trying to find the best way to play with this group, which I think is a talented group," Hurley said in June on the 'College Hoops Today' podcast. "It’s maybe a little bit of a deeper team in terms of the desire to maybe play nine or 10 players as opposed to it probably being an eight-man rotation in the past two years."
