JuJu Watkins is having quite the off-season this year. After an intense 2024 NCAA season, the USC Trojans star guard decided to fly to Paris to watch some of Team USA's modern-day sporting heroes shine in the Olympics.
On Thursday, Watkins showed off her outfits and shared some of her favorite moments from her time in the 'City of Love.' on Instagram with the caption:
"Was happy to be in Paris."
A common trend noticed among tourists visiting Paris is sharing a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Watkins followed suit, including a picture of the historic monument.
She also shared a snap from the stands while watching Simone Biles perform in the Olympics. Biles is one of the most decorated artistic gymnasts in the USA, and her performances in Paris were an incredible display of her talent.
She won gold medals in the Women's Individual All-Around, Women's Team All-Around, and Women's Vault events and a silver medal in the Women's Floor Exercise event.
Watkins also enjoyed some of the action in Stade de France, which serves as the Olympic Stadium for the quadrennial event this year.
Recapping JuJu Watkins' incredible freshman season
JuJu Watkins was one of the standouts not just for the Trojans but also among all women's basketball players in her freshman season this year. She set a new all-time national record for scoring by a freshman (920 points).
Watkins' 27.1 points per game was the second-best in the country, only behind Iowa star Caitlin Clark, the top overall pick in this year's WNBA draft. She also averaged 2.3 steals and 3.3 assists per game, leading the team in both statistics.
Watkins' phenomenal freshman season saw her win several accolades. She was the ESPY Best Breakthrough Athlete and the ESPN Freshman of the Year. She also finished as a finalist for the Honda Trophy and the Naismith Trophy while finishing runner-up behind Clark for the ESPN Player of the Year.
The Trojans enjoyed an impressive postseason on the back of Watkins' performances, narrowly missing out on a spot in the Final Four after losing 73-80 to the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight. Coach Lindsay Gottlieb expects Watkins to grow even more in her sophomore season, which will hopefully end in glory next year.
