IN PICS: Former Iowa star Gabbie Marshall shares serene beachy snaps with family members in latest IG post

Gabbie Marshall seems to be making good use of her newfound free time outside of basketball. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star took to social media to share some memorable moments she enjoyed with her family.

Marshall shared a post on Instagram earlier today, which featured pictures of her enjoying some time at the beach along with her family. The first picture saw Marshall and her sister Lily, pull off an adorable pose.

Her brothers, Noah and Luke, feature in a fair number of photos in Marshall's post. Marshall also shared photos of herself and her siblings with their parents, Ernest and Marne Marshall and their grandparents, who also joined them on their trip to the beach.

Gabbie and Noah also shared a touching moment with their father, Ernest, as the trio were all smiles in the final picture of her post.

Why did Gabbie Marshall retire from college basketball?

Gabbie Marshall was a part of one of the most fearsome backcourt trios in women's college basketball alongside Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin. While Clark and Martin chose to enter the WNBA draft, Marshall decided to avoid going down that route.

Gabbie Marshall emerged as one of the best guard in Iowa Hawkeyes' recent history.

After exhausting her eligibility in NCAA women's basketball, she chose to retire from college basketball to focus on her studies. She will pursue her Master's in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Carolina after majoring in Health and Human Physiology from Iowa.

Marshall was known for her incredible defensive efforts in five seasons with the Hawkeyes. In the 2023-24 season, she became the first Iowa women's basketball player to record 200 career steals and 200 career three-pointers. She also finished her Hawkeyes career joint-fifth on the all-time steals list (235) and became the 44th player in the program to record 1,000 career points.

In her final season with the Hawkeyes, Marshall averaged 6.1 points, 1.6 assists and 1.2 rebounds. While these might not be eye-appealing stats, her efforts in defense often cannot be explained by stats alone, with her immense popularity among the Hawkeyes faithful a significant indicator of that.

While the Hawkeyes will begin a new era under coach Jan Jensen, Marshall will embark on another incredible experience. The talented ex-Iowa guard, who hails from Cincinnati, was named the 'Ruler of the Jungle' for the Bengals' upcoming home game against the Baltimore Ravens on October 6.
