Iowa women's basketball coach Jan Jensen tried to lighten the mood ahead of the Hawkeyes' matchup against the Washington Huskies on Thursday. Jansen shared a series of photos of the Iowa team exploring Seattle on her Instagram story on Wednesday.
The first photo showed the Hawkeyes practicing ahead of the game.
She captioned the photo, "The Hawks were workin' today & had a great, focused practice!"
In the second photo, the team was at a fish market where freshman Taylor Stremlow caught a fish.
"Then we got to explore Seattle... how 'bout this catch by @taylorstremlow!!" Jensen continued.
The third photo showed Iowa senior Sydney Affolter at the gum wall, which Jansen captioned:
"And of course, had to stop by the gum wall! Way to go, @sydney.affolter"
Jensen shared a photo by Abby Emmertstamp showing them posing together at Starbucks Reserve Roastery.
The final photo showed the Iowa coaching team, which Jensen captioned:
"Staff stuff."
Jan Jensen remains confident despite Iowa women's team struggles
Iowa women's basketball narrowly lost 50-49 to Oregon (14-5, 5-3 Big Ten) on Monday, marking its fifth loss since the new year. The Hawkeyes are currently sitting outside the AP Top 25 after spending the last three seasons near the top of the list. However, coach Jan Jensen remains confident that her team will bounce back to their winning ways.
"I think anybody will tell you when you're going through it, you know, it's just, there's only one way and that is just to keep showing up every day. And that's just what we are going to do," she said after the game.
"You just got to be as positive as you can because you know they're trying. There's certainly, no one that's part of the Hawkeye organization wants to win anymore than the people inside the locker room. So, we'll just keep showing up and one of these days, we're going to create that break," Jensen added.
The Hawkeyes (12-7, 2-6 Big Ten) are expected to create that break as they take on the Washington Huskies on Thursday.
