Iowa Hawkeyes guard Kylie Feuerbach celebrated Christmas with her family and shared pictures on her Instagram on Thursday. Joining her for the photographs were her sister Faith and boyfriend, John Poulakidas, who is playing his senior season with the Yale Bulldogs.
Feuerbach and Poulakidas have been together since April 2022. Like his girlfriend at Iowa, the Yale guard leads his team, averaging 21.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
After two seasons of restricted time on the court and coming off the bench, Kylie Feuerbach has finally been pushed into the starting five line-up and is playing an average of 26.3 minutes on the hardwood. She is averaging 6.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.4 spg.
Entering the season, Feuerbach has big hopes for her contributions on the court but is still navigating her way.
“I definitely want to do a lot more on the floor,” she said (via Sports Illustrated.) “I want to be scoring more, but right now I’m focused on the nit-picky things this summer. I can improve my game in a lot of different areas, especially offensively. I’m getting my shots up, but there are some little things on that side of the floor that I can be working on.”
Kylie Feuerbach is leading the Iowa Hawkeyes to a new chapter
After the historic run with Catilin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall in the last two years, the Iowa Hawkeyes underwent major changes this offseason. Along with its iconic senior class, the team lost coach Lisa Bluder, who retired in May.
With Jan Jensen taking over, the Hawkeyes added five freshman recruits and one transfer portal addition, Lucy Olsen from Villanova. The team has come together well and is on a 10-2 run. Talking about the team, Kylie Feuerbach said:
“Obviously, we have a lot of newbies, so it’s been really cool to have everyone together and put a lot of pieces together. It’s an ongoing puzzle, but it’s super fun.
"I honestly don’t think you could expect this whole summer, preseason, now season to play out as well as it has, just because we have had so many changes and new people and new pieces. But the way it’s played out has been phenomenal.”
With the holiday break coming to an end, the Hawkeyes return to action on Sunday against Purdue.
