It seems like Lucy Olsen, Kylie Feuerbach and Sydney Affolter are planning to add another sport to their repertoire. The three Iowa Hawkeyes players tried their hand at golf.
Photographer Dan Rolling shared pictures of the three from their day on the course on Instagram on Monday.
"On course… (Lucy Olsen), (Kylie Feuerbach), (Sydney Affolter)," he wrote in the caption. "Can’t complain when your office for the day is a golf course. Had a blast with a few members of the @iowawbb team as well! Go Hawks!"
The photos see the Hawkeyes trio posing pre- and post-shot, riding golf carts, and reacting to their shots.
Lucy Olsen, Kylie Feuerbach and Sydney Affolter are all seniors with the Hawkeyes. While Affolter has been with them since 2021, Feuerbach joined after one season with Iowa State. Meanwhile, Olsen joined this season after three years at Villanova.
The three guards are leading Iowa in its new chapter after Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin, and Gabbie Marshall graduated from the team. With the historic run in the last two seasons as their benchmark, Olsen, Feuerbach and Affolter have a tough road ahead as they try to make their mark in Iowa's history like their iconic predecessors.
Iowa loses first game of season despite Lucy Olsen's return
Lucy Olsen missed out on the Cancun Challenge games in late November due to a bruised knee sustained from practice. The guard returned to the game on Saturday against Tennessee and led the team with a season-high 23 points, three rebounds and five assists.
However, Olsen's efforts were insufficient as the Iowa Hawkeyes suffered their first defeat of the season in a 78-68 loss.
Sydney Affolter spoke to the media on Monday and shared her thoughts on the loss.
"The outcome of that game was not what we wanted or expected but you know I thought it was a good game," she said. "I thought we played decently well throughout the whole game until the end. I think we kind of lost our composure at the end but you know we always talk about it's game by game.
"It's a very long season and one game doesn't define who we are, what we can do. We just got to get back into the gym and work hard and work on those things that we can control."
Up next, the Hawkeyes will face in-state rivals Iowa State on Wednesday.
