Iowa women's basketball player Jada Gyamfi celebrated the new year by sharing sweet memories of 2024 with family and teammates on Instagram on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes senior posted photos she took with her family, former Iowa teammate Caitlin Clark, Gabbie Marshall, Hannah Stuelke and other teammates at different moments.
"Made it through another year," she captioned the post.
In her senior season at Iowa, Gyamfi is averaging 2.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game on 71.4% shooting.
Jada Gyamfi discusses relationship with Caitlin Clark
Jada Gyamfi continues to maintain close ties with former Iowa teammates, especially Caitlin Clark. Gyamfi shared special ties with the trio of Clark, Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, all of whom have since moved on from their collegiate career.
Clark plays for the Indiana Fever where she was the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Marshall retired from basketball and is now in North Carolina to pursue a master's degree in occupational therapy, while Martin plays for the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA.
On the podcast "Talking Hawks with the VandeBergs," in June, Gyamfi discussed how she leaned on the former Hawkeyes players for support. She noted that Clark's friendly and humorous nature made it easy for them to connect.
"Caitlin was an easy one 'cause we could sit and laugh for hours," Gyamfi said. "She's really funny. I'm really funny and I knew her kind of coming into this," Gyamfi said.
Meanwhile, the former Iowa teammates continue to celebrate each other's successes. Iowa announced plans to retire Clark's No. 22 jersey during a special ceremony at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Feb. 2. The announcement elicited exciting reactions, including Gyamfi's. The senior guard posted a cheeky comment:
""She must've been really good!"
Clark has become one of the most famous faces in the world of women's basketball, but she remains loyal to Iowa, where she recorded historic stats. She averaged 28.4 points and 8.2 assists on 37.7% shooting per game over four years. She led the Hawkeyes to three Big Ten championships and two NCAA title game appearances.
