Iowa women's basketball star Lucy Olsen reunited with her family to celebrate Christmas. Her sister, Lila, shared a series of photos on Instagram. In the photos, the sisters were all smiles as they posed in front of a Christmas tree on Wednesday.

"Merry Christmas everyone 🎄," Lila captioned the post.

Born on May 26, 2003, Lucy Olsen is the daughter of Roland and Kelley Olsen. She is also the middle child of three girls, which include her older sister, Olivia, and younger sister, Lila.

Olsen began her collegiate basketball career at Villanova and was named Rookie of the Year in her freshman season and All-Big East second team in her sophomore season. Ranking third in the country after scoring 23.3 points per game in her junior year, Olsen was voted the Big East Most Improved Player of the Year.

For her senior year, Olsen transferred to Iowa for the 2024–25 season, where she averages 18.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 44.6% shooting.

Lucy Olsen reveals why she's different from Caitlin Clark

Twenty-fourth-ranked Iowa (10-2) is without the trio of Caitlin Clark, Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin. The Hawkeyes recruited Lucy Olsen to lead the team in a new era of women's basketball. Olsen did not disappoint, leading Iowa to eight straight wins to start the season.

However, the senior guard has insisted that she does not want to be compared to Clark, who was known for her 3-point shots, as their styles of play are different.

“Caitlin Clark was amazing,” Olsen said, according to Hawkeye Nation. “She's playing so well, and her skill set is also very unique. I'm not going to shoot really deep 3s. I feel my game is more midrange, and I’m going to try to work my butt off in anything I can to help us out.”

However, the Hawkeyes found themselves stumbling, with Olsen missing three games due to an injury. Iowa suffered its first defeat to Tennessee on Dec. 8 (78-68) before bouncing back with a 75-69 win over in-state rival Iowa State, then ranked No. 18.

The Hawkeyes suffered a 68-66 second defeat to then-No. 17 Michigan State in their Big Ten opener on Dec. 15 before playing their last game before the Christmas break with a 92-86 win over Northern Iowa. Olsen dropped 21 points, six rebounds and seven assists in that game.
