The Jan Jensen-led Iowa Hawkeyes played an important game against their Big Ten conference rival, the Indiana Hoosiers, on Sunday. A fired-up Jensen shared her thoughts before the matchup on her Instagram story:

"✅ Good shootaround ✅ Pre-game meal ✅ Getting game ready. Let Go, Hawks! Beat the Hoosiers!!!," she wrote.

However, the game ended in disappointment for Jan Jensen as the Hawkeyes lost 74-67. This was Iowa's third consecutive defeat, following losses to Maryland and Illinois, bringing their total number of losses this season to five.

Iowa veteran Kylie Feuerbach played just nine minutes as the starting five had a slow start. Taylor McCabe, who scored 15 points, and Addison O'Grady, with 11 points, were the only double-digit scorers, while the rest of the team struggled to contribute.

Despite playing 23 minutes each, Hannah Stuelke and Lucy Olsen couldn't make a significant impact, finishing with five and eight points, respectively.

Jan Jensen comments on the Caitlin Clark comparison

The Iowa Hawkeyes ended last season with a championship game appearance, marking their second consecutive run. With Caitlin Clark and other key seniors graduating, the program is now led by Feuerbach and Stuelke.

With high expectations, the new Hawkeyes roster is struggling to live up to them. They have gone from dominating the Big Ten Conference to nearly the bottom of the standings.

After seeing the media's constant comparisons to Clark's era amid their consecutive losses, Jan Jensen shared her thoughts on Friday, via WHBF's Blake Hornstein:

"I think it's really important for everybody to let this year's team be this year's team," Jensen said. "Everybody keeps looking back and saying, oh, you know, they didn't lose that. And you know, we didn't. We had a really good crew. They played together for four years. And so my job is to keep them here."
"There's a lot of season left. There is so much season, whether we would have won Sunday and would have won tonight, I can't afford to compare what has happened in the past, because these guys are giving me a lot."

The Iowa Hawkeyes are now 12-5 overall with a 2-4 conference record. They have the chance to regain their confidence when they take on Nebraska on Thursday.
