Iowa State sophomore Audi Crooks reacted to an Instagram post on Wednesday, days after a historic performance for Iowa State. She expressed her excitement at an energetic hype video from Cyclones Merch on her Instagram story. The video was a compilation of her highlights on the court.
“This is tough @cyclonesmerch," Crooks wrote.
As a freshman, Audi Crooks made waves for the Iowa State Cyclones. As a sophomore, she is averaging 23.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 61.4%. She is ranked fifth nationally in scoring only behind Florida State’s Ta'Niya Latson, Notre Dame's Hanna Hidalgo, USC's JuJu Watkins and Arkansas’ Izzy Higginbottom.
Audi Crooks reaches 1,000-point milestone and named to Wooden Award midseason watch list
Audi Crooks achieved a significant career milestone on Sunday, scoring her 1,000th career point during Iowa State’s 75-67 loss to Utah. Crooks delivered a game-high 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting, cementing her place in school history as the fastest player to reach 1,000 career points, doing so in just 49 games.
Crooks became Iowa State’s 35th player to surpass 1,000 career points, and her record-breaking pace added another layer of accomplishment to her growing legacy.
Despite Crooks’ impressive performance, the Cyclones (10-6, 1-2 Big 12) fell to Utah, snapping a 12-game home winning streak, a disappointing end to an otherwise celebratory evening for the program.
Crooks joins two other sophomores (Hannah Hidalgo and JuJu Watkins) in the exclusive 1000-point club to achieve that milestone this season.
Crooks’ achievement comes as she continues to dominate on the court. This week, she was named to the 2024-25 John R. Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List, marking the first time in her career she has earned the prestigious recognition.
The award honors the nation’s best college basketball players, and Crooks’ inclusion highlights her impact with the Cyclones. She was named alongside UConns’ Paige Bueckers, Hidalgo, LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson, Watkins and others.
The sophomore has been a consistent force for the Cyclones, scoring double figures in 48 consecutive games. She has also recorded 20 or more points in 27 games.
