How Cooper Flagg has performed for Duke this season
With high expectations placed on him before the season started, Cooper Flagg seems to have lived up to them coming out of high school.
With 14 games in, Flagg is averaging 17.4 points and 8.4 rebounds on 44.7% shooting (30% from beyond the arc). In three of the last four contests, he put up 24 points, as he scored 21.3 points in that stretch.
Following victories against Virginia Tech and SMU last week, he won both ACC Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week after providing 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks. It marked the fifth time he won the former and the second time he received the latter this season, becoming the fifth player in Duke history to receive both honors in the same week twice.
Flagg has played a huge role in Duke riding high on an eight-game winning streak, currently boasting a 12-2 record. They are producing 80.3 points on shooting splits of 47.4% overall and 35.9% from downtown, blowing out opponents by 21.1 points per contest. They are active on the glass and playmaking, grabbing 39.8 rebounds and generating 16.8 assists.
Aside from Flagg, Kon Knueppel contributes 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists as he shoots a team-best 96% from the free-throw line. Tyrese Proctor follows suit with 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, with the most three-pointers made with 35 and counting.
After this game, Cooper Flagg and the Blue Devils will host Notre Dame at the Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, on Saturday at noon ET.
