The USC Trojans are all fired up for the 2024-25 season. After exiting the title race following the Elite Eight round last season, Lindsay Gottlieb & Co. are ready to go deeper this postseason.
The Trojans had their media day for the upcoming season, and pictures from the day are quickly going viral on social media. The photographer (cancerblake) shared a few behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the pictures, with one pointing out the location, while others praised the photographer for his skills and fangirled over JuJu Watkins.
"Is this the practice facility or someone basement? can we help then please," one fan wrote.
The 2023-24 season saw JuJu Watkins and her teammates revive the USC Trojans program as they brought in fans and had a deep postseason run in almost 30 years, which they are looking to repeat in the upcoming season.
Coach Lindasay Gottlieb, in an interview in April, shared her thoughts about the previous year.
"They have completely changed a narrative about a program,” coach Gottlieb said (via Los Angeles Times). “That’s really powerful. The way that the country’s going to see USC women’s basketball is really different than it was four months ago.
"I think their legacy is that they got us somewhere. Now it’s on all of us to say, ‘What’s next?’ We’re not trying to be a one-hit wonder.”
USC Trojans coach Lindsay Gottlieb comments on the adjustments made for the 2024-25 season
The USC Trojans will play in a new conference in the upcoming season. While they bid goodbye to their Pac-12 rivals, the Trojans are set to have new ones in the competitive Big Ten Conference.
Talking about the mental adjustments the Trojans have made, coach Gottlieb said:
“Last year our mantra was like ‘don’t pick us now, you didn’t pick us before’ and it was a year that no one expected much from us and we had something to prove. So a lot of my time this offseason has been studying the nuances of the right buttons to push for a group that is new and is going to have a lot of expectations placed on us.
"How do we embrace that and raise the bar and perform to that standard without losing our joy? We’ll dive into that mental side of things just as much as the physical.”
The Trojans will play their first game against Ole Miss on Nov. 4 in Paris, France.
