Sarah Strong had one of her best outings in her UConn career against Iowa State on Tuesday. She finished with 29 points, nine rebounds and four assists, shooting 10-of-18 from the floor, including 5-of-9 from the 3-point range.

During his chat with the media post-game, Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly summed up his thoughts on the Huskies and Sarah Strong's performance against his team.

"I don't know if you can put it into words," Fennelly said (via ESPN). "She was so good. There's certain people, and Geno's had them over the years, I think, that the game looks really easy, and it just pisses you off.
“That’s just a great team,” he said (via Cyclone Fanatic). “They’re just better than us. They’re better coached than us. … and when it’s going bad, we had a hard time stopping it. We’ll see where we go.

UConn's shooting was efficient, as it made 56.9% of their shots from the floor, including 58.8% from behind the line. The Huskies also set a program record for most 3-pointers in a game (20).

“I haven’t seen a team shoot the ball like that in a long time, maybe ever," Fennelly said. "I always joke that basketball is a make-shot, miss-shot game, and they made a lot of them."

Sarah Strong comments on her UConn experience and growth

In just 11 regular-season games, Sarah Strong has established herself as a core piece in UConn's attempt at winning a national championship this year.

The Huskies last won an NCAA title in 2016 under Breanna Stewart. Strong has good on-court chemistry with her teammates and is becoming a good playmaker as well.

"I think I've adjusted pretty well," Strong said. "Game one I was really nervous and kind of excited to get everything started, but now I feel like I'm more confident in myself and my abilities."

UConn senior Paige Bueckers is leading the charge this season and has heaped praise on Strong.

"She just wants to come in and contribute to winning, and you can see that within her game," Bueckers said. "In games she's not scoring, she's still impacting winning, still making plays, whether it's rebounding, defending, she can pass extremely well.
"And then there's games where she has outbursts scoring. She's humble, she's hungry, she's driven, and she wants to be a great player."

The Huskies face the USC Trojans in a heavyweight battle on Saturday, and Sarah will once again need to be at her best.
